Burcu Karadağ

She was born in Istanbul. After primary school, he entered the Instrument Education Department of ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory. He took "Ney" lessons from Salih Bilgin and Niyazi Sayın, Turkish Music Solfege and Theory from Erol Sayan and Doğan Dikmen, and Western Music from Ali Eral. In 1996, he entered the Higher Department of Instrument Education. He graduated in 2000.

She completed his master's degree at Haliç University Institute of Social Sciences with the thesis "A Proposal on 4-year Undergraduate Ney Education in Turkish Music Conservatories".

Since his school years, he has given concerts with various ensembles, orchestras and music associations in Turkey and abroad (France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azerbaijan, Switzerland, Japan, India, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Oman, Dubai).

The ISTANBUL SYMPHONY, composed by Fazıl Say and performed by Burcu Karadağ on percussion, Aykut Köselerli on percussion and Hakan Güngör on kanun, with the Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra, won the ECHO classical jury special award, the most prestigious award in Europe.

In 2004, he started working as a ney lecturer at the Turkish Music Conservatory of Haliç University. He worked with many important musicians such as Fazıl Say, Tuluğ Tırpan, Sertab Erener, Trilok Gurtu, Martin Grubinger, Rudiger Oppermann, Angelika Akbar, İhsan Özgen, Önder Focan and Okay Temiz. Between 2005 and 2007, he took part in Cemal Reşit Rey Turkish Music Ensemble.

In March 2012, he was the soloist at the world premiere of the Hezarfen Ney Concerto composed by Fazıl Say in Mannheim, Germany.
In 2012, he represented Turkey at the international flute festival held in New Delhi, India.

In 2013, her album NEYZEN was released, which is the first album by a female ney player and consists of distinguished works of classical Turkish music.At the same time, Fazıl Say's Hezarfen Ney Concerto and Istanbul Symphony were published on CD and DVD.In 2013, her book 'NEY TRAINING IN MEŞKTE', which she wrote about ney education, was published by Pan Publishing.Burcu Karadağ published her album 'Ney in Ethno Jazz', which brings together traditional Anatolian melodies and jazz approach, which she revitalized with her breath, in March 2019 with the label 'Y Kültür Sanat'. 

The first product of Karadağ's project, 'Ney In Ethno Jazz' brings together deep-rooted melodies from different regions of Anatolia with modern jazz tunes. The album features the ney instrument in the center with its solo role and emphasizes local melodies with fusion jazz elements...
